Here is a listing of Frequently asked tax questions, and answers:
What should I bring to the first meeting with Gary? Please use the
Checklist, and
Organizer as guides. Any documents that support the information you include on them, should be brought in with you. Do not forget your dependent information including their Social Security numbers!
Do you offer Refund Anticipation Loans (RAL's)? No, we do not administer Refund Anticipation Loans. We do not believe they are advantageous to our clients.
How do you set rates? The tax preparation fee depends on the complexity of your return and is calculated based on the forms needed to complete your return.
My spouse and I are separated, should we file a joint return or married filing separately? This answer will vary from couple to couple. There are few factors including business deductions, and dependants that have to be taken into account before making this decision about your filing status. It is best to fill out both types of returns, and then choose the one that will give you the least tax liability.
Are medical expenses deductible? Yes but only for the portion that exceeds 7% of your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). In other words, the medical expenses must reach thousands of dollars before they have an impact on your tax return.
How soon will I get my refund? The Federal refund will be deposited on your account 8-15 days after the acceptance of electronic filing. If you choose to get a check, it'll take a week longer. State returns vary, but for example Maryland, Virginia, and DC returns are usually on your account in 3-5 days.
